You’ve probably heard it before — or maybe even said it yourself:
"I just need some new paint and pillows!" Don’t get me wrong, I love a gorgeous pillow and a perfectly curated color palette as much as the next designer. In fact, I’m a Certified Color Consultant, and I’ve done plenty of decorating over the years. There’s real value in layering beauty and comfort into a space. But when someone asks what I do — what I really do — I often find myself saying: “Interior design is more than just paint and pillows.” Because it is. It’s easy to think of interior design as just the final flourishes — the colors, the fabrics, the styling touches. But the truth is, those are the cherries on top of a much deeper transformation. My work begins long before the throw pillows are fluffed. It Starts with the Bones of the HomeGreat design starts with understanding how you live. Do you love to cook and entertain? Do you need a home that supports aging in place? Are you craving a space that feels calm, healthy, and efficient? That’s where I begin. From space planning and moving walls, to designing kitchens and bathrooms that support your daily rituals — the real magic happens in how we shape the structure of your home to support your life. It’s not just about how it looks. It’s about how it feels to live there. Design that Supports WellnessOne of my core values is that wellness starts at home. Design can — and should — support physical and emotional well-being. That might mean improving natural light, managing air and water quality, incorporating biophilic design, or simply creating a layout that brings more ease into your daily life. That’s the kind of transformation you can’t get from paint and pillows alone. The Power of Good DesignDesign is about harmony. Flow. Function. And yes, beauty too. It’s the thoughtful choices behind the walls, beneath the surfaces, and around the details that bring a home to life. So, while I’ll happily help you find the perfect blue velvet pillow or that just-right shade of sage green, know that those things are just the visible tip of a much bigger story. A story that includes timelines, contractors, building codes, lifestyle needs, and most of all — you. So yes … I Love Paint and Pillows. But I Love This Even More.I love walking into a home that feels off and helping it find its rhythm again. I love helping homeowners breathe easier — literally and emotionally — because their home finally works for them. And I love seeing the joy and relief on my clients’ faces when everything comes together. That’s why I do what I do. Interior design isn’t just about how a space looks. It’s about how it lives.
